Hard to find and early NBC Symphony broadcast recordings of Haydn Symphony No. 31, 98, 99 the latter are the sixth and seventh of the twelve London symphonies (numbers 93–104) composed by Joseph Haydn. It was completed in 1792 as part of the set of symphonies composed on his first trip to London. Arturo Toscanini was an Italian conductor and one of the most acclaimed and influential musicians of the late 19th and early 20th century, renowned for his intensity, his perfectionism, his ear for orchestral detail and sonority, and his eidetic memory. Later in his career he was appointed the first music director of the NBC Symphony Orchestra, and this led to his becoming a household name through his radio and television broadcasts and many recordings of the operatic and symphonic repertoire.
