“If music be the food of love, plays on!”
Orpheus Records is pleased to return “Shakespeare: The Sweet Power of Musicke”, one of Musical Heritage Society’s most popular LPs of all time, to international availability for streaming and download after a near four-decade absence from the market. The recording features the talents of actor and Shakespeare specialist Tom Klunis reading scenes from Hamlet, Henry VIII, The Merchant of Venice, The Tempest, Romeo and Juliet, and more, with instrumental and vocal music from Shakespeare’s time played by The New York Consort of Viols, with soprano Sheila Schonbrun and harpsichordist Edward Smith. The release includes a digital booklet with original liner notes, song texts, song texts, instrumentation and music sources.
