Aram Khachaturian’s ballet scores were among the most successful of the Soviet era, and the ballet suites also found enormous popularity in the concert hall. The famous Sabre Dance from Gayne found its way into Western popular culture in the 1950s. Yuri Simonov conducts the most famous selections from Khachaturian’s three most popular ballets in this outstanding recording.
