This long out of print recording features the English conductor Denis Stevens, working with The Ambrosian Singers, a choral group he founded to perform and record works of the English renaissance. This might be the first recording ever made entirely devoted to the music of John Dunstable – in 1961, when this recording was made, Dunstable was known to a small number of academics and scholars. In the past 50 years, prompted by a series of recordings, including this one, his talent and genius has been acknowledged.
