Composer Christopher Ball conducts four of his works with soloists Leslie Craven (clarinet) and Adam Walker (flute). Featuring a Concerto for Clarinet and Strings, and a Concerto for Flute and Orchestra alongside his “Four Dances for Wind Trio” and an Irish Suite of some of his favourite folk-tunes, including his own version of “Trottin’ to the Fair”. MusicWeb International hailed the release with the following review: “melodic and approachable. This is all very tuneful music and resists any pull towards dissonance with complete assurance. Mr Ball, no plagiarist, traces his lineage back to Butterworth and Finzi. I am sure we will hear more: don’t be surprised to hear this on Classic FM.”
