The wide repertoire of the internationally acclaimed London-based Pro Cantione Antiqua includes many works by Heinrich Schütz, whose music straddles the Renaissance and baroque styles. This collection of Schütz’s motets, recorded between 1979 and 1983, is accompanied by the English Consort of Viols, the Restoration Academy, the London Cornett & Sackbut Ensemble and organist Bradford Tracey. The result: lively, dramatic performances highlighting the polyphonic mastery and beauty of Schütz’s music.
