Russian Cello Sonatas
Russia’s leading cellist, an exciting nationalist programme
One of Russia’s most renowned cellists, Marina Tarasova has been praised in her recordings and tours across Europe. She is an authority on Russian composers, not only the canon but also many others less-known to the West. This album contains five pieces for cello and piano from Prokofiev‘s ballet Chout, as well as Sonata in E Minor (Boris Tchaikovsky), Sonata in A Minor (Sergei Chebotarev), Scherzo in A Minor (Yuri Shaporin), Sonata No. 1 (Alfred Schnittke), and Imitating Albeniz (Rodion Shchedrin). Tarasova is accompanied on piano by Irina Kandinsky and Boris Tchaikovsky.
