Hymns from England

23 favourite hymns from beloved Salisbury Cathedral

The foundation stone was laid in 1220 for a new cathedral in St Mary’s Mead, part of Salisbury’s water meadows, for what became one of the finest and most imposing medieval structures in England. This impressive collection features 23 splendid hymns ranging from the traditional to the relatively recent, vividly recorded in Salisbury Cathedral of its choir and organ (David Halls) under the direction of Simon Lole.  Features favourites including ‘Make Me a Channel of Your Peace,’ ‘Amazing Grace,’ ‘Morning Has Broken,’ ‘This Rugged Old Cross,’ and the setting of Psalm 23 (‘The Lord is My Shepherd’) which was the theme of hit BBC comedy ‘The Vicar of Dibley.’
