Czech It Out!

This past June our six-disc box set Anthology of Czech Piano Music (Vol. I) was reviewed by the German weekly Junge Freiheit. While my reading knowledge of German is elementary at best, it was very nice to see a great review of this wonderful set. Volumes I and II feature famed Czech pianist Radoslav Kvapil – one of the finest experts and advocates for Czech national music – performing thrilling piano works by his countrymen, including works by Antonin Dvorak, Leos Janacek, Bohuslav Martinu, Vitezslav Novak, Bedrich Smetana, Josef Suk, Jan Vaclav Vorisek, and Zdenek Fibich. The two boxes – released in 2011 and 2012, respectively – continue to be very popular titles in our offerings, due to the excellence of the material and Kvapil’s mastery of these compositions as well as the excellent value of these sets.

Also, take a look at our series Baroque Bohemia & Beyond (click here) to discover works from the eighteenth century from the historical region of Bohemia, which is now (roughly) the Czech Republic.
