Borodin: Symphony No. 2; Polovtsian Dances; In the Steppes of Central Asia

Borodin’s “greatest hits”

An album of orchestral gems by Alexandr Borodin, performed by Ole Schmidt and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.  One of the most significant Russian composers of the nineteenth century, this disc presents some of Borodin’s most popular and important works: his second symphony, the symphonic poem In the Steppes of Central Asia, and orchestral selections from his opera Prince Igor.  This brilliant and rich performance of Schmidt and the RPO has received a rave Three-Star review from the Penguin Guide.
