Alfred Brendel on Alto
Brendel’s pianism is neither personal nor impersonal. That is its uncanny achievement.
Austrian pianist Alfred Brendel rose rapidly to international prominence through recordings made in the 19050s and ’60s for Vox, Turnabout, and Vanguard Classics. Many of these recordings, still acclaimed as among the finest of piano repertoire from the classical and early romantic eras, have been reissued by Alto in CD editions remastered from the original studio master tapes.
